Guest Requirements

  • Human Friendly. Shy or standoffish is welcome, however, for the safety of our home, we cannot accommodate dogs with a history of aggression toward people.
  • Housetrained. Guests should be reliably housetrained. If your dog is still working on house manners, please ask about our Board & Train program instead.
  • Crate trained and non-destructive. Our guests enjoy the freedom of our home and are not routinely kenneled. However, they should be comfortable spending short periods in a crate when necessary. Dogs with extreme destructive chewing habits may be better suited for a commercial boarding facility.
  • Health & Safety. Current Rabies certification is required for all guests. Please notify us of any medical conditions, medications, recent illnesses, or injuries before your dog’s stay.

Frequently Asked Questions

Not at all. Guests have full access to the house and fenced front yard. Our own dogs stay separately in the terrace level with access to a different yard whenever we have boarding guests. If hosting dogs from different families, all activities, walks, and outings are conducted individually, and guests sleep in separate bedrooms. Because we host such a small number of guests at a time, we’re able to tailor each dog’s routine to their individual needs and comfort level.

Yes. We welcome dogs of all breeds and sizes, provided they are a good fit for our home environment.

We welcome intact males and females, but we do not board females in heat. We want every guest to enjoy the full von Lotta experience, and boarding a female in season would require restrictions that aren’t fair to her or the other dogs in our care

A meet and greet is not required. Many of our guests travel from out of town and are flying out of Atlanta, so we understand that a pre-stay visit isn’t always possible. Our in-depth intake process and your dog’s guest requirements ensure we’re well prepared before your dog arrives.

Dogs sleep inside our home, either in a crate or in an approved sleeping arrangement based on their needs and routine. We strive to maintain consistency with what they are accustomed to at home whenever possible.

Absolutely. You’ll receive daily updates and photos so you can relax knowing your dog is happy, safe, and well cared for.

Yes. We are happy to administer most oral and topical medications according to your veterinarian’s instructions at no additional charge.

We will make every reasonable effort to contact you immediately. If veterinary care is needed, we will take your dog to your veterinarian, distance permitting, or to ours. After-hours emergencies are handled by Blue Pearl Emergency Vet in Sandy Springs. Any veterinary expenses incurred during your dog’s stay remain the responsibility of the owner.

Please bring your dog’s food, any medications, and any special items discussed during your evaluation. We provide bowls, bedding, toys, and plenty of affection.

Popular holiday periods often book several months in advance. For regular travel, I recommend reaching out as soon as your dates are confirmed.

Because availability is limited, a 50% deposit is required to reserve your dates, with the balance due at drop-off. Cancellations made at least 7 days before check-in will receive a refund of the deposit minus $100 administrative fee. Deposits become non-refundable within 7 days of arrival. If you must reschedule we ask that you notify us no less than 7 days prior to your check-in date.
